400 Water Faucets Stolen from Iowa Campground
Some $12,000 worth of water faucets have been stolen from the Iowa State Fairgrounds campgrounds in Des Moines, according to police.
Each water faucet is worth about $30. Police list 400 of them as missing, the Des Moines Register reported.
Officers were sent to the fairgrounds on the east side of Des Moines on March 17 to take a report. The faucets apparently were taken over the last several weeks. About two weeks ago staff noticed 58 of them were missing. By Thursday the number had climbed much higher.
Police said each water faucet at the campgrounds consists of a spout, handle and pressure regulator. Near the pressure regulator the components are made of brass. Thieves may be taking them for their scrap value.
Investigators have no suspects.
