Ocean Lakes Schedules 2nd Facebook Event
Ocean Lakes Family Campground in Myrtle Beach, S.C., is holding its second annual Facebook Fan Appreciation Weekend April 1 and April 2.
Many of those who “like” Ocean Lakes on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/oceanlakesFB?v=app_4949752878) from all over the country will gather for a fun-filled weekend to commemorate the campground’s two-year anniversary on the social networking site. This unique event remains the only of its kind to take place within a campground in the United States and one of very few hosted by any business or group, according to a news release. It draws participants from all over the country.
“After a great event last year, we’re ready to do things even bigger and better for our devoted Facebook followers at our 2nd Annual Facebook Fan Appreciation Weekend,” said Barb Krumm, director of marketing and public relations at Ocean Lakes Family Campground. “Campers in general are extremely social, so Facebook is a perfect way for them to connect with us, re-connect with each other and share their experiences at Ocean Lakes. We’re looking forward to this opportunity to celebrate our Facebook family with some fun games, contests and fellowship.”
Ocean Lakes, which is celebrating its 40th birthday this year, will post video of the event activities, post photos, take polls and encourage attendees to post and share their experiences on the Facebook page. Those not in attendance will be able to view and vote on favorite videos and photos from the events. Attendees at Ocean Lakes’ Facebook Fan Appreciation Weekend will be invited to participate in social-media themed mixers, or “Social Meetcha’s.” They can also compete for prizes in an event based on the hit NBC show, “Minute To Win It,” as well as other contests including a mini golf tournament.
Golf cars are an important part of Ocean Lakes’ culture and there are more than 5,000 on the 310-acre oceanfront camping resort property. For the second year, the weekend will include the “Ocean Lakes Golf Car Rodeo” in its lineup of events. Saturday night will conclude with attendees gathering for a bonfire and weenie roast.
People who ‘like’ the campground and who want to attend the event must register on the campground’s website (http://oceanlakes.thundertix.com). The registration fee is $10 for adults, $5 for children between the ages of 6 and 12 without paid parent admission, and free for children between 6 and 12 with paid parent admission. Those who can’t attend in person can participate on the Facebook page and will also be included in special drawings for prizes.
