Two More Parks Join ‘Tents for Troops’
The ball seems to keep rolling for Tents for Troops – the program started by a campground in Castle Rock, Wash., that offers free camping for active military.
Two more parks, Merry Meadows in Freeland, Md., and West Canada Creek Campsites in Poland, N.Y., have joined the program, Lucan Karn, volunteer, announced today (March 25).
“We feel very lucky to have these two great parks join the growing list,” Karn stated in a news release. “It is amazing the quality of parks that are making the decision to give back to our Active Military.”
West Canada Creek Campsites, located on Route 28 in New York, is one of only two RV resorts in all of New York to receive an “A” rating of their park in the GuestRated consumer satisfaction survey in 2010. This park is filled with events, from a “water poker run” to tailgating on a race weekend. West Canada Creek also has a very interesting snack booth in a train car, appropriately named “The Lil’ Red Caboose.”
Their website is http://www.westcanadacreekcampsites.com/index.asp.
Activities at Merry Meadows include horseshoes, volleyball, hiking and bird watching.
“Tents for Troops would like to thank these two parks,” Karn added.
Tents for Troops now has parks in 28 states. More information can be found on the Tents for Troops website at www.tentsfortroops.org.
