The two Taunton, Mass., men who checked in Saturday morning (April 2) at the Coastal Acres Camping Court seemed relatively ordinary and friendly with each other, campground manager Richard Perry said Monday.

But their brief stay in a pop-up tent trailer at campsite No. 8 turned deadly, The Boston Herald reported.

David Walton, 41, was found dead early Sunday outside the campground office. James Costello, 45, was found asleep next to him. He was arrested and arraigned Monday on domestic violence charges.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday morning at the state medical examiner’s office in Boston, and police are continuing their investigation of the death, according to a printed statement released late Monday afternoon by Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe. On Sunday, the district attorney called Walton’s death “suspicious.”
