Congresswoman Lobbies for Tents for Troops
U.S. Rep. Jamie Herrera Beutler, R-Wash., has written to the National Park Service on the behalf of the Tents for Troops program, asking that the parks service consider enrolling national parks that offer RV or tent camping sites in the Tents for Troops program.
In a letter to Tents for Troops, the congresswoman wrote:
"Thank you for contacting my office regarding your efforts to provide free camping spaces for members of our active duty Armed Forces. I will be glad to assist in any way that I can.
I have written to the National Parks Service on your behalf and will be in contact with you again as soon as a response is received."
It is our sincere hope that the National Parks Service will do everything possible in considering this request. Tents for Troops offers free RV and Camping sites to all Active Military personnel at participating Parks across the Country. Unlike Military owned Campgrounds and RV Parks Tents for Troops member Parks never charge members of our Active Military.
Parks wishing to participate in the Tents for Troops program agree to offer a minimum of two sites for two nights free any time that the park has the space available. Many Parks are offering far more than is requested.
Participating parks are allowed to only block out holiday weekends or festivals. Other than those exceptions our Troops are guaranteed to be able to stay for free at many of the nicest Parks in the Country anytime they like.
