The city of Carrollton, Ky., opened bids Thursday (May 5) for work on the Two Rivers RV Park.

The Madison (Ind.) Courier reported the bids are as follows, in alphabetical order:

  • Advanced Paving and Construction Co. Inc., total bid of $1,318,000 with a scheduled completion date of Sept. 30.
  • Kelsey Construction LLC, total bid of $1,555,820 with a scheduled completion date of Dec. 31.
  • Ohio Valley Asphalt LLC, total bid of $1,174,000 with a scheduled completion date of Aug. 15.
  • W.J. Conner General Contractors LLC, total bid of $2,717,000 with a scheduled completion date of Aug. 21.

The city of Carrollton received a $1.5 million loan from the Kentucky League of Cities to be used on this project. Any expenses beyond the $1.5 million would need to come from the city.

When talks began, Carrollton Mayor Gene McMurry wanted to have the park done and open by July 1 in order to capitalize on the visitors who will be in the area for the Sprint Cup race at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ky.

“I really didn’t anticipate we could get it done by July 1 with us dragging it out and the water coming up,” McMurry said. “We’re going to be all right.”

The city council will award the bid at its regular meeting Monday.
