Almost a year after first going public with the idea, a Louisiana man who says he is intent on bringing an amusement park to the Houma-Thibodaux, La., area has dramatically expanded his initial proposal, the Lafourche Parish Daily Comet reported.

Jeff Hensley, a veteran of theme-park management who has been working on the plan for at least a year, continues to seek financial backing for his Bon Temps Family Theme Park project, now an estimated $700 million investment. That park would span 170 acres and feature 30 rides, including a range of roller coasters, water rides and family activities and shows.

It would be the centerpiece of a 400-acre complex for which he also plans a mall with restaurants and night clubs, an IMAX theater, a hotel with more than 600 rooms, RV park, convention center and golf course.
