The Pine Flat Campground in central Arizona’s Oak Creek Canyon reopened on Friday (June 17) for the first time since September of 2009. The campground has received a complete makeover, the Verde Independent reported.

The upgrade included new restrooms, improved accessibility, enhanced pathways, new fire hydrants and improved campsites with new picnic tables and grills.

With 56 campsites, Pine Flat is one of the largest and most popular public camping sites in Oak Creek Canyon. Eighteen of the sites can be reserved in advance by calling (877) 444-6777.

Camping fee is $18 per vehicle, $9 for a second vehicle and $8 for day use.

Right on the banks of the creek, it offers easy access to the well-stoked fishing holes in the creek.

The campground is located off 89A about 12 miles from Sedona and 14 miles south of Flagstaff.
