Florida Keys RV Park Redevelopment Further Clouded
Rebuilding on oceanfront lots at Key Largo Ocean Resort may be more difficult because of a federal case that bans flood insurance for property designated as habitat for some endangered species, Keysnet.com reported.
After years of infighting among shareholders over how the RV park will be redeveloped — and who will have the prime oceanfront lots — county officials said this week that a large part of the 22-acre park at mile marker 94.8 is included in a federal court judgment to protect endangered species habitat by restricting federal flood insurance.
That issue could further delay what would be one of the largest redevelopment projects ever in the Keys.
