Erie County (Pa.) Judge Shad Connelly could close Moon Meadows Campground for the second straight summer if its owner doesn’t comply with the state’s Safe Drinking Water Act, the Erie Times-News reported.

Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) inspectors visited the Greenfield Township facility May 18 and discovered 31 campers were connected to the campground’s water supply.

Moon Meadows is allowed to have less than 15 water hookups, or it must secure a permit from the DEP.

“The goal is to have Moon Meadows come into compliance with the regulations, so that people have safe drinking water,” DEP spokeswoman Freda Tarbell said. “We asked the judge to enforce an administrative order.”

Connelly has scheduled a hearing for June 21.
