Henderson Partners with Upscale Michigan Resort
Mike Horan, managing partner of South Haven/Sunnybrook RV Resort in South Haven, Mich., announced that he has established a joint venture agreement with RV resort development pioneer Randall Henderson, founder of Outdoor Resorts of America Inc.
Henderson will work in partnership with Horan to help manage and promote South Haven/Sunnybrook RV resort. Located on the Sunset Coast of Lake Michigan, South Haven is famous for its beaches, boating, shops, fun restaurants, golf and more, according to a news release.
The resort features a full range of amenities, including a swimming pool, private lake, clubhouse, walking trails, fitness center and more.
Henderson served as chairman, CEO and president of Outdoor Resorts of America for more than 30 years. He subsequently joined Monaco Coach Corp. and served as president of its wholly owned subsidiary, Signature Resorts, for six years.
During his career, Henderson has developed 29 RV or motorcoach resorts in prime resort locations across the country. He was the first to introduce the concept of condominium ownership of an RV lot. He was chosen to serve on the National Recreation Roundtable and served on the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) Commercial Council for many years.
“With his experience, legal background and knowledge of condominium development, Randall is the perfect partner to help make South Haven/Sunnybrook RV Resort a prime destination for RV owners,” said Horan.
Through the joint venture, Horan also secured the services of Henderson’s former Outdoor Resorts associates David McMillin, with 25 years of experience in marketing and industry relations, and Doug Bradfield, who had successfully sold more than 200 RV lots at Outdoor Resorts or Signature Resorts facilities.
“In this economic climate, South Haven/Sunnybrook is the perfect RV resort development,” said Henderson. “South Haven is recognized as an established resort community with more than 20 million people within a 200-mile radius. Plus, it’s an affordable option for RV owners looking to rent or purchase a lot.”
South Haven/Sunnybrook appeals to the extended-stay visitor for the summer and fall months as well as those looking for a weekend getaway. It accepts Class A and Class C motorhomes, fifth-wheels and travel trailers 28 feet and over.
“It’s a true upscale resort for people with a passion for the RV lifestyle,” said Henderson.
Henderson will work closely with RV manufacturers, dealers and customers to ensure that the resort continues to meet the needs of the marketplace. For dealers within a 200-mile radius of the resort, he plans to offer free weekend getaway packages that they can pass along to their customers.
“There can be no long-term growth in the RV industry relying on just state and national parks,” Henderson said. “The private sector must do its part to support and promote the RV lifestyle. That’s what South Haven/Sunnybrook is all about.”
