The summer season is well underway at Lakewood Camping Resort in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and the resort is offering guests a variety of family-friendly events throughout the summer.

Guests can enjoy weekly parties and shows during their stay including a welcoming party, hayrides, beach parties, a magic show, the “High Steppin’ Country Show” and much more, according to a news release.

In celebration of being selected the 2011 National RV Park of the Year, the resort is offering complimentary show tickets for resort guests during the 2011 summer months for “High Steppin’ Country” and “The Magic Show.”

“High Steppin’ Country” is the longest running show in Myrtle Beach, and is performed at the only oceanfront amphitheatre along the Grand Strand. Guests can see this high-energy song and dance show on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 8 p.m. through Labor Day. “The Magic Show” takes place every Monday at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Lakewood Camping Resort recently started a new “green” initiative called “Be Nature’s Guest.” Guests are encouraged to recycle their aluminum cans, cardboard, and plastics in recycling bins that are located throughout the resort. The aluminum cans that are collected are donated to a local charity.

“Every year we look forward to our summer season and welcome new and returning guests. Summer is all about spending time with family and friends, and we pride ourselves with being able to offer great beaches and amenities to make lasting memories,” said Robert Clinger, general manager of Lakewood Camping Resort. “Not only do we offer shows for our guests, but we want our locals to come out and enjoy Lakewood as well.”
