From The Daily Triplicate, Crescent City:

A Klamath RV park’s main building burned late Sunday (July 31).

Klamath Fire Chief Jeff Genzoli said he received a call around 11 p.m. Sunday about a structure fire at the Kamp Klamath RV Park and Campground.

“I was the first one in with my command vehicle,” said Genzoli. “When I pulled in, it was fully involved.”

The building was made out of redwood beams, which added to its combustibility, Genzoli said.

“I felt bad for (the owner) because it looked like it was the mainstay for the entrance to his property,” said Genzoli.

A cause has not been determined, Genzoli said.

Volunteers from the Klamath Fire Protection District and Crescent Fire Protection District were able to save an outbuilding from the flames and most of the deck, Genzoli said.

The firefighters finished around 4 a.m., Genzoli said.
