Construction of the Soaring Eagle Water Park and Hotel in Mount Pleasant, Mich., is right on schedule and will now include an up-scale RV park nearby.

The RV park, owned by the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, will be located on Airport Road across from the Mount Pleasant airport and open in the summer of 2012, the Midland Daily News reported.

“This project will allow us to showcase a beautiful property designed by Alden B. Dow to serve the community by providing a local recreation area,” Jennifer Turner, interim CEO of the Migizi Economic Development Co. said.

The park will offer 67 sites with full water, sewer and concrete parking pads.

“This is going to be a high-end RV park with a club house, paddle boats and swimming,” Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe spokesman Frank Cloutier said.

It will also feature a pavilion, shower facilities, community fire pit, walking trails, fishing, kayaking and canoeing.

The clubhouse will be located inside the home designed by Dow where a camp store, game room, reading room, multi-purpose room and kitchen will be located.

“All these amenities are going to tie into the water park, golf course and casino amenities,” Cloutier said.

Word of the water park has traveled throughout parts of Michigan and out-of-towners are patiently waiting for it to open.

“We are going to have to really think hard about the grand opening because it’s going to be substantial,” Cloutier said.

The water park will also feature a 227-room hotel on the premises that will offer single, queen and king size rooms as well as family suites.

Cloutier said a new attraction will feature an animatronics robot that will tell stories to children after the water park closes for the day.

“These are robots that look realistic,” Cloutier said. “In the evening the kids can gather for story time.”

The water park will offer an adult area where they can keep an eye on their children.

“It will be quieter and a place where they can rest and relax,” Cloutier said.

Also planned are a teen-themed swim area, kiddy dump station, activity pool and a lazy river.

Hotel amenities will include a fitness room, a food venue for the water park, a restaurant and lounge for the hotel area as well as a pro shop for Holiday Greens.

The water park is tentatively scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend.

The hotel and water park will be located on Pickard Road in Union Township where the Holiday Inn once stood.
