One person was injured after a severe thunderstorm early today (Aug. 1) ripped through a campground near Big River, Saskatchewan.

RCMP say the severe storm affected Popular Point, a small camping area about 12 miles north of Big River.

One person suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

The area was damaged from fallen trees and high winds and the Big River Fire/Rescue Department assisted with debris removal to allow essential services to gain access to the area.

Police say everyone is accounted for and the cleanup is underway.

Big River is about 125 miles north of Saskatoon.
