CONY Reports on Tropical Storms Damage
Donald Bennett Jr., executive director of the Campground Owners of New York (CONY), reports that several CONY member campgrounds have sustained varying amounts of damage from the two tropical storms that struck the Empire State in recent weeks.
“Many campgrounds have sustained damage from Irene as well as now Lee. It hasn’t been a good two weeks for campgrounds in parts of New York,” Bennett told Woodall’s Campground Management.
He said the following other campgrounds sustained varying amounts of damage from Irene: Oakland Valley Campground and Deer Park KOA, both in Cuddebackville, Nickerson Park Campground in Gilboa, Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Lazy River in Gardiner, Rondout Valley Resort and So-Hi Campground, both in Accord, and the New York City KOA in Newburgh.
Tropical Storm Lee left flood damage in Pine Crest Campground in Windsor and West Canada Creek Campsites in Poland.
“I am sure that there are many more that have sustained damage; I just haven’t heard as of yet,” Bennett said
