A $1.9 million FamCamp facility at Buckley Air Force Base on Denver's east side has been completed by Heath Construction of Fort Collins, the company announced.

The facility features 38 recreational vehicle campsites on 14 acres next to the base's outdoor recreational area. The site also includes a 900-square-foot shower and bathroom facility, The Denver Post reported.

The facility provides a campground for traveling military retirees and active-duty personnel.

Construction began on Feb. 28.

According to Heath, the site required demolition and soil testing and hazardous material abatement. Heath built the bathroom and shower facility, paved and graded 38 recreational vehicle pads and roads, and installed fire suppression and detection/alarm systems.

In addition, it installed plumbing and plumbing fixtures and lighting.

Each of the recreational vehicles sites has a picnic table, cooking grill, water and electrical hookups.
