Campers at Bear Creek Campground have been evacuated due to a forest fire in the area.

Residents of Traders Cove are being put on evacuation alert, Castanet News, British Columbia, reported.

This due to a forest fire currently burning between Bear Creek Main and Westside Road. The fire was reported at approximately 12:30 a.m. PST today (Sept. 6).

Local firefighters and crews from the Ministry of Forests are currently on scene.

According to fire officials the fire started along the walking trails off Bear Creek Main.

Fire officials are asking residents to stay away from the area.

The fire is believed to be several acres in size.
