A number of campsites in west central Indiana RV parks and campgrounds are booked full for the Labor Day weekend. These include Sugar Creek Campground, Shades State Park and Turkey Run State Park, the Crawfordsville Journal Review reported.

“We are completely full,” Jessica Sledge, a spokesperson for Shades State Park, said. “It’s been a pretty busy summer for us, especially the first couple of months of the summer.”

The Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) campground in Crawfordsville also is busy. As of Thursday afternoon, only five of the 70 campsites were available for the weekend and all the cabins are full for the entire weekend.

The local KOA has plenty of special activities planned for its patrons with complimentary donuts and coffee as well as two ice cream socials for our guests. In addition, the pool is open for everyone to enjoy.

Lake Waveland still has spots available. However, there are special requirements for this weekend. There is a three-day minimum for those checking in today and a two-day minimum for those checking in Saturday, according to a spokesperson. Campsites are limited to six people per site and two vehicles. While there were some sites still available a spokesperson said, “If the number of phone calls we have been getting this week is any indication, then we should be pretty busy.”

One local campground, Charla Rose (located in Fountain County), will have a grand opening this weekend. The campground is under new ownership as Rick and Theda Caldwell have bought the property. Plenty of special activities are planned for the weekend including a surprise special entertainer and DJs.
