OREGON

From the Blue Mountain Eagle, John Day, Ore.:

The community of Spray will hold a ground-breaking ceremony today (Oct. 11) to celebrate a new phase of improvements in Riverfront Park.

The additions will include a community-size picnic shelter at the site overlooking the John Day River, new picnic tables, and a gazebo for community events.

In all, $42,000 in improvements will be completed, with support from the city and a grant from Oregon Parks and Recreation. The small community is located on Highway 19 in Wheeler County.

Eventually, the city hopes to buy land to double the park size and build a small full-service RV park to complement the existing day-use park.
