ALABAMA

From The Sand Mountain Reporter, Albertville:

Marshall County commissioners approved an increase to campground rental fees at Marshall County Park No. 2 near Gunterwsville during their meeting Monday (Nov. 14).

The hike goes into effect next year and is expected to generate as much as $300 per month to support operations and training at Georgia Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, said District 1 Commissioner Bill Stricklend.

The increase is $5 for monthly rentals and $1 for daily rentals.

The current rental fees are $20 or $22 per day and $200 or $250 monthly depending on the campsite’s proximity to the water, according to a county official.

Georgia Mountain VFD Fire Chief Richard C. Lawson requested the rate change, noting the department provides fire and emergency services to the campground on Cha-La-Kee Road, but the seasonal residents do not assist the VFD financially.
