From the Rochester Post-Bulletin:

Prior to Tuesday’s (Nov. 15) Goodhue County Board meeting, a handful of state and local organizations had already expressed health and safety concerns about the continued operation of the 300-acre Hidden Valley Campground just north of Red Wing, Minn. During the meeting, two more groups were added to the list.

The additions helped convince the board to revoke the campsite’s conditional-use permit by unanimous vote.

Compliance issues at the 200-site campground along the Cannon River were raised by the Minnesota Department of Health, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Department. On Tuesday, representatives from the “Friends of Lower Cannon River” and Cannon Valley Watershed District joined the fray, noting that concerns have been ongoing for more than a decade.

“After 15 to 20 years of this, you are absolutely obliged to take care of this,” said Terence Fruth, an attorney representing the Friends of Lower Cannon River. “You cannot tolerate, you simply cannot tolerate someone who is operating outside the law.”
