From the Daily Freeman-Journal, Webster City:
Bidding will start soon for new electrical and septic systems for the old campground at Briggs Woods Park, according to Conservation Director Brian Lammers. This spring, Briggs Woods Park will be adding a deluxe cabin at that location. The cabin will be able to hold 12 people.
At the Conservation Board meeting on Tuesday, Lammers said he expects the final construction plans to be delivered by Nelson Design Group in the next few weeks.
He had said earlier that they anticipate that the deluxe cabin will be finished by mid-July, depending on weather conditions. The addition of other deluxe and regular-sized cabins will depend on if and when funding becomes available.
“We hope to build a smaller cabin at Briggs Woods right away,” he said. “And possibly a smaller cabin at Little Wall Lake or Bell’s Mill Park.”
The first of two readings for rules and regulations regarding occupying campsites as first-come, first-serve (with the exception to reservable campsites) was read. There is a stipulation that only 12 sites each Briggs Woods Park and Little Wall Lake can be reservable.
“The board also reserves the right to black out certain events and holidays,” Lammers said. “On holiday weekends, we don’t allow reservations.”
