A high-end recreational vehicle resort could be rolling into the Port of Walla Walla, Wash.’s airport industrial park.

Port commissioners on Thursday heard a presentation from project proponent Scott O’Laughlin whose vision for his “Vintage View RV Resort” would marry high-end RVing with wine tourism, the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin reported.

O’Laughlin wants to build a complete RV destination with clubhouse, storage, gym, laundry and restroom facilities in phases at airport property at G and Douglas streets, across from Pacific Power.

A frequent traveler whose work in disaster insurance keeps him on the road and in a motorcoach for half the year, O’Laughlin said his visits to other communities has helped in glean the best concepts for a destination resort.

O’Laughlin said he’d like to be open by this summer. Financing is in place, but he needs a lease with the Port before he can move forward.

Port commissioners seemed intrigued by the idea. The price per square foot is a sticking point that will be negotiated in coming weeks.
