ARVC's Jeff Sims Addresses Illinois Association
How to handle undesirable campers – both the human and non-human type – took center stage at the Illinois Campground Association annual meeting April 10-11 at the Sunset Lakes Resort in Hillsdale, Ill.
The event drew 25 people from 12 campgrounds where discussions included the invasion of the emerald ash borer into the “Land of Lincoln” and how to handle unruly campground guests, reported Christina Gordon, association spokeswoman. Campground owners discussed ways to discourage campers from bringing in out-of-state wood, which may be infected with the ash borer.
Meanwhile, Illinois State Trooper Jason Wilson headed the discussion on handling unruly campers, explaining when and how unruly or drunken campers may be evicted.
Other guest speakers included Jeff Sims, director of state relations and program advocacy with the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC), who brought owners up to date on new developments and member benefits through ARVC.
The association will hold its fall meeting Oct. 23-24 at the Double J Campground & RV Park in Springfield.
