Richard Durhack has submitted plans for a 75-site campground next to Zip San Juan, a zip line business on Egg Lake Road on San Juan Island in Washington. His original plan was for 100 campsites but was scaled down after a review with a San Juan County planner, the San Juan Islander, Friday Harbor, reported.

A manager’s residence and bathroom facilities would also be constructed. If the campground will use more than 5,000 gallons of water per day, a water right must be obtained.

One of several adjacent properties he owns borders on Bacon Lake but the campers would not use the lake, according to the application.

There is also a request for expansion of operation of the zip line business from its current restriction of April 1 through October 31 to year-round. He expects the business to offer the 3-hour tours two days per week in the slower part of the year.

A public hearing is scheduled on June 13 before the hearing examiner.
