From the Helena Independent Record:

Authorities Wednesday (May 30) responded to a call of a suicidal man at the Log Gulch campground who had put a handgun to his head and then told campers if they called law enforcement, he would have the officers shoot him.

Sheriff’s deputies later located the man, who had driven off, and took him into protective custody and to the hospital for evaluation, according to Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton.

Dutton said the 66-year-old man, who lives in the Wolf Creek area, did not threaten anyone else with the gun.

The man, whose name has not been released, called officials Tuesday night reporting that he was suicidal and staying at Log Gulch, which is located east of Wolf Creek on Holter Lake. Deputies searched for the man but did not locate him and told the camp host to call if the man returned.

From KMGH-TV, Denver:

The Boulder County coroner has identified the man killed by a gunshot at a campground near Allenspark over the weekend, but the cause and manner of his death are still under investigation.

The Daily Camera reports Coroner Emma Hall on Wednesday identified the man as 24-year-old David Munoz-Tarin, of Denver. Authorities initially said he was from Thornton.

He was shot in the face around 1:15 a.m. Monday at the Olive Ridge campground northwest of Boulder.

From KMOX-TV, St. Louis:

Charges could be filed today in connection with this weekend’s severe beating of a Cuba, Mo., man at a Sullivan area campground.

Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke tells KMOX that right now they’re focusing on the man he’s calling “the main suspect” in the beating of 32-year-old Jeffery Pemberton, but others could be charged, ”We’re still interviewing people who are potential witnesses. There is still work to be done in that area.”

Toelke says they’ve talked to the suspect, but could not arrange a meeting so the search for him continues.

Pemberton was punched, kicked, hit with a pipe and tied to a chair and beaten at the Arapaho Campground Saturday. He was then dropped off at a hospital.

Toelke says the suspect accused Pemberton of having inappropriate contact with a 13- or 14-year-old girl. He says investigators are talking with the girl and her parents.
