Police Seeking Campground Homicide Suspect
Steve Noss shakes his head when he thinks about what happened to the friend and neighbor he’s known for more than 20 years.
Noss, like others, is searching for answers as to why someone shot and killed Michael Charles Snyder at a secluded campground along Swatara Park Road near Middletow, Pa., early Thursday (May 31), The Patriot-News reported.
“It’s sad — just a shame,” Noss said while taking a break from painting his Beechwood Road home in Lower Swatara Township. “I don’t understand why it happened.”
Snyder’s brother was shot in the shoulder during the ordeal. He was treated at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Police are searching for the gunman.
Snyder, a 48-year-old father of four adult daughters, had no known enemies, Noss said. In his spare time, Snyder enjoyed fishing and riding his Harley-Davidson, his friend said.
Snyder had recently split from his longtime girlfriend, moved out of the white, two-story Beechwood Drive home and was living in a camper at the campgrounds by the Swatara Creek at the end of a quarter-mile private drive off Vine Street outside Middletown, Noss said.
