Texas Hill Country City Touts Campground Offerings
One of the major tourist attractions in New Braunfels, Texas, is the number of campgrounds found in and just and outside of the city limits. Guests from all over the state come to the area, and the campgrounds make sure to provide as much as possible for their guests, the Herald Zeitung reported.
Paul Rich, owner of Mountain Breeze Campground, says his business offers a number of amenities.
“When people come to visit, 98 percent of them go nowhere else,” he said. “We offer RV spots, cabins, volleyball, and a beer-and-wine bar and grill.”
Rich says most of his guests come from the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston areas.
“The best part of it (for the guests) is meeting and interacting with a lot of customers,” he said. “A lot of them become friends.”
Jackie Corbier, owner of Second Crossing Camp on the Guadalupe, thinks the best part of her job is working with people on vacation.
“Everybody is on vacation, and everybody is happy,” said Corbier, who said she believes certain rules at her business attract vacationing families.
“We’re a family atmosphere, and we have quiet hours after 10 (p.m.),” she said. “Also, a lot of people choose us because we accept small dogs.”
Corbier said her campsites are also known for offering convenient amenities.
“Every site has electric and water,” she said. “There’s also a store on the property.”
Corbier said Second Crossing’s location is another advantage.
“It’s a good location. Every site is on the river,” she said. “It’s also on one of the most scenic routes in Texas.”
Like Rich, Corbier enjoys meeting with guests from across the nation.
“We had a family from South Dakota who stayed here for two weeks,” she said.
Shirley Petro, manager at Hill Country RV Resort in the city, said events offered at her park often keep guests hanging around.
“We’re a large park with a lot of amenities. You could never leave because there are things to do,” Petro said. “We have a playground with a jumping pillow, a game room with several systems, and an activity hall with events like karaoke and live entertainment, and we serve breakfasts on Saturdays.”
Petro said her location also rates as a positive for her guests.
“New Braunfels has great rivers to tube,” she said. “It’s right in the Hill Country, with some great rides and some great sightseeing.”
