The city council in Carrollton, Ky., has approved several measures concerning the new, city-owned Two Rivers Campground, including a national advertising campaign and special Halloween discounts.

On July 23, members unanimously approved a motion to place an ad in the 2013 Good Sam RV Travel Guide & Campground Directory, the Madison (Ind.) Courier reported. The city will spend $1,695 for the first year to be listed in the Kentucky section of the directory. The campground will also be able to register campers for the Good Sam RV Club and keep the $25 membership fee as part of the advertising campaign.

Councilman Robb Adams said the campground will need to track how people find out about the location to make sure the advertising campaign is worth the cost.

Council members also:

  • Approved special discounts at the Two Rivers Campground in October. The campground will feature a “stay one night and get the other night free” offer the weekend before Halloween. The campground will offer campers a “stay one night and get half off the other night” during the weekend after Halloween.
  • Discussed widening Second Street from Seminary to Sycamore Street to two 10-foot-wide lanes to help recreational vehicles make turns into the campground. Council members plan to look at the area before taking action at the next council meeting.
