A recreational vehicle park near Whitecourt, Alberta, was placed under a mandatory evacuation order on Wednesday (July 25) because of rising waters on the Athabasca River.

People who live or are staying at the Sagitawah RV Park were ordered to leave as quickly as possible and stay away until authorities say they can return, CBC News, Edmonton, reported.

The RV park is located approximately 100 miles northwest of Edmonton.

Residents are also asked to stay away from the river.

The rising water levels have also prompted the town of Whitecourt to issue a flood watch.
