Dan Wright

Dan Wright of The Springs at Borrego in Southern California is running for the seat on the board of the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) soon to be vacated by Michael Gelfand of Campland on the Bay and Newport Dunes Waterfront RV Resort.

Wright is excited to follow in Michael’s footsteps, according to the recent issue of "Wednesday morning Coffee Talk & Updates," an online publication of the California Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (CalARVC).

Wright comes with a lot of experience under his belt. He has been on the CalARVC board for five years. He has served as president for two of those years. Currently he is president of Camp-California Marketing, the marketing brand for CalARVC.

Following is a Q & A CalARVC conducted with Wright:

CalARVC: Have you served on other boards? If so, which ones and in what capacity?

Wright: In addition to my CalARVC experience, I have volunteered in other ways, including past president, Integrated Living Services, a non-profit agency in the Seattle area that provides around- the-clock care for profoundly disabled individuals. Current President Borrego Springs Chamber of Commerce; and Current Vice President Borrego Springs Youth and Senior Center Inc. This is a non-profit serving the needs of the community through social and nutritional programs.

CalARVC: Why are you interested in serving on the board; what do you hope to accomplish?

Wright: I feel that I can contribute to ARVC by bringing passion and vision to the board. I believe I am uniquely qualified by my experience as a developer and operator of an ARVC Park of the Year (2009-2010), which is currently rated by Trailer Life at 10/10*/10, Woodalls 5 Star in both facilities and recreation, and most impressive to me, “A” Rated by Guest Reviews. I am also an ARVC Certified Park Operator (CPO)

My goal is to help ARVC increase membership by improving member benefits, enhancing educational programs and strengthening industry advocacy and governance efforts.

I enjoy meeting and getting to know people, and being part of a team that does good work. The ARVC board presents wonderful opportunities to do those things.

CalARVC: Tell us about your family & personal interests.

Wright: My beautiful wife Nancy (32 years) and I love to go RVing in our Class C motorhome. Our daughter Janna is a beautiful, hard-working lady who is a graduate of Arizona State University and currently lives and works in Seattle, Wash.

I owe a lot to my father, Bill Wright, whose vision and determination are responsible for the existence of The Springs at Borrego. I’m still learning a lot from him.

My personal interests are traveling, spending time with family and friends, and making new friends. I am an optimist who believes that people are inherently good. I also believe that the major problems of our industry (and nation) can largely be solved by learning from each other and working together for the good of all.
