National Park Spokesman Takes Own Life
A longtime National Park Service spokesman was found dead in his Northwest Washington apartment in an apparent suicide, the Washington Examiner reported.
A NPS spokeswoman confirmed today (Oct. 8) that the agency was notified on Sunday night that Bill Line had died and that the park service is planning to issue a statement.
D.C. police said they received a call at 8:42 p.m. Sunday, of a suicide attempt with a knife at a residence in the 1500 block of 18th Street. When emergency personnel arrived, the victim was not breathing and pronounced dead, police said.
Line was a staple in Washington media circles as the front man for the park service for more than a decade, starting his post there in October 2001, according to his LinkedIn page.
Line went to the park service from the National Science Foundation, where he worked in public affairs. Prior to 1998, he worked as a producer for the Fox News Channel.
