$5K Prize in Carefree Resort’s Talent Competition
Snowbirds who sing, dance and play musical instruments might want to consider staying at Carefree RV Resorts in Florida this winter.
The RV resort chain, which has 30 locations in many of the most sought after destinations in Florida, will host will its second annual Carefree’s Got Talent! competition in March. Talent contest participants who stay at Carefree RV Resorts during the winter months will have a chance to compete for a $5,000 grand prize, according to a news release.
“We think Carefree’s Got Talent! is a great way to show off the many talents of our wonderful winter residents,” said Stephanie Martin, director of marketing for Carefree RV Resorts.
Preliminary competitions will take place at each Carefree RV Resort property in Florida in February and early March. The winners of those competitions will then advance to the final Carefree’s Got Talent! competition, which takes place at 1 p.m. March 20 at the Sun ‘n Fun pavilion in Lakeland, Fla.
The talent competition will be followed by a rally on the evening of March 20, which extends into the morning of the 21st. The cost of the rally is $35 per RV and includes dinner on the 20th and breakfast on the 21st.
“Carefree is always looking for ways to get their communities together and the idea of having a Carefree-wide rally really excited everyone involved in the planning process,” Martin said. “We were so impressed with the turnout, the excitement and all the wonderful feedback we received following the competition, we are hoping to top that in 2013,” adding that she anticipates that the talent competition and rally will create a new tradition for the Carefree family.
Last year’s Carefree’s Got Talent! competition brought together 1,200 snowbirds from all over the state. Kenny Channels from Riptide RV Resort in Key Largo, Fla. took home the $5,000 grand prize by performing hits from George Strait and the Zac Brown Band.
Details on the talent show and the rally will be announced at each Carefree RV Resort after the first of the year. Only Carefree residents who stay at a park for three months or longer during the 2012/2013 season will eligible to participate in the competition. However, all are encouraged to attend the show and participate in the rally.
