2013 Texas Guide: Hot Item at Early RV Shows
Consumers are snatching up the latest issue of the RV Travel & Camping Guide to Texas, grabbing nearly 9,000 of the printed directories during the first major RV shows of the winter season, according to a news release.
“We’re seeing very strong interest in camping and RVing this year,” said Michael Moore, assistant executive director of the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO), whose representatives attended several RV shows in San Antonio, Mercedes and Fort Worth.
RV dealers, for their part, are also reporting strong sales and strong interest at RV shows.
“We’ve come back better than we ever expected,” said Diana LeBlanc, president of PPL Motor Homes, the nation’s largest RV consignment dealership, with locations in Houston and New Braunfels. “We’ve sold over 100 vehicles so far in the month of January,” she said.
LeBlanc said other dealers attending RV shows across Texas have been similarly upbeat, and many are clamoring for TACO’s camping guides.
“This was TACO’s first year to have a booth at the South Texas RV Supersale in San Antonio, where we gave out close to 2,500 copies of the new RV Travel & Camping Guide to Texas,” Moore said.
The South Texas RV Supersale took place Jan. 3 – 6 at Joe Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio.
The following week, TACO passed out 3,500 RV Travel & Camping Guides in record time at the Rio Grande All Valley RV Show, which was held Jan. 10 – 12 at the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Arena in Mercedes. That same week, Rayford Crossing RV Resort distributed nearly 2,000 copies of the guide on behalf of TACO at the Tarrant County RV Show at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
TACO also distributed nearly 1,000 guides at the San Antonio Boat and Travel Trailer Show, which took place Jan. 24 – 27 at the Alamodome, thanks to PPL Motorhomes, which also advertises on the front cover of the guide.
TACO representatives expect to distribute thousands of additional copies of the guide at the Houston RV Show, which is scheduled for Feb. 6 – 10 at Reliant Center as well as the Dallas RV Supersale, which will be held Feb. 21 – 24 at Dallas Market Hall.
TACO has also hired Anderson’s Brochure Distribution Service to distribute the guide on TACO’s behalf to 25 RV shows across the country.
