This map courtesy of The Wilderness Society and the National Park Service shows 42 national parks where oil or natural gas drilling is possible. Sites marked with a red dot are possible drill sites. Black dots mark sites that are already under development.

Is no place safe from oil and gas drilling, the Wilderness Society asks in a recent posting on its website.

With the news that the Interior Department will allow drilling in a proposed wilderness area in southern Utah's Desolation Canyon, it makes one wonder.

A recent report by the Center for American Progress revealed that 42 national parks are threatened – 12 where oil and gas drilling is currently happening and 30 where it could be in the near future.
