FMCA Florida Rally Lures Some Early Arrivals
Crisp air, bright sun and strong breezes Friday (Feb. 1) greeted RV enthusiasts to the Brooksville-Tampa Regional Airport where they were arriving early to the Family Motor Coach Association's (FMCA) Southeast Area Rally.
Conrad Kleinpeter, the regional vice president who hails from Mississippi, said about 100 coaches were already parked on the grounds for the rally, which starts Wednesday and continues through Feb. 10, the Tampa Tribune reported.
"We love Brooksville," said Kleinpeter, adding he arrives a week early and stays a week after the rally.
Some 800 recreational vehicles holding a total of 1,600 are expected to attend the rally. Coordinator Carol Buck said about 130 vendors will be on site.
Rally organizer Ralph Marino, FMCA national vice president, southeast area, said the rally is organized solely by volunteers, and invited Brooksvillians to come see the "RV lifestyle" for themselves. The grounds are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a day pass will cost $7.
The entrance to the rally is U.S. 41 at Runway Drive, just south of Spring Hill Drive.
