California St. Beach Now Offering Full Hookup
Summer campground reservations are now being accepted for California’s Silver Strand State Beach in San Diego where campers will find new electrical and water hookups and a new sewage dump station.
The improvements are expected to be in place by May 17, said Clay Phillips, superintendent of the San Diego Coast District of California State Parks, oldwestnewwest.com reported.
Combined with San Diego’s mild climate, the beaches make Silver Strand State Beach one of the area’s finest recreation destinations.
“Long-time campers have been thrilled to learn that utilities will be provided at the campground,” said Phillips. “They will not have to rely on noisy generators for their electricity and the quiet will greatly add to the ambiance of a campground unmatched for its beach level beauty.”
The campground will feature 124 campsites that will be slightly larger than the existing sites.
Since park policy requires generators to be shut down by 9 p.m., these hookups will allow campers to enjoy electrical service all day and night, he added.
All site fees will be increased by $15 to defray the cost of the hookups. Premium beachfront sites will increase to $65 per night and all other sites will increase to $50 per night. The additional $15 fee for each site will be offset for campers by savings on the costs associated with fuel for generator operation and fees charged at offsite dump stations, Phillips said.
