The New Jersey Travel Industry Association (NJTIA) invites everyone with a stake in the state’s travel industry to attend the 2013 New Jersey Conference on Tourism March 20-22 at the Golden Nugget Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J.

The New Jersey Conference on Tourism is an annual event providing educational and networking opportunities to the state’s tourism industry professionals, according to a news release. This year’s conference, titled ” Game on to Greatness…Restoring the Garden State,” will include topics such as social media/mobile marketing, marketing across generations, vital research statistics and travel trends.

Gov. Chris Christie will be featured speaker on Wednesday, March 20. Former NFL Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Ron Jaworski will be the guest speaker at the Celebration of Tourism Luncheon on Thursday.

Another highlight of this year’s conference is the opening session featuring Pam Breaux who served as secretary of the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in Louisiana.  Breaux was an integral member of the team that helped rebuild the devastated tourism industry in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina.

Sharon Franz, president of NJTIA, said the conference committee has been working on the details, speakers and seminar topics for the past year. “Industry representatives attend the conference to learn the latest trends and statistics. The conference helps to shine the light on the fact that increased tourism expenditures result in job growth in the countless industries that serve the tourism industry, including construction, retail, food service, and more.”

The $38.8 billion New Jersey tourism industry employs over 443,000 state residents and one out of nine New Jersey workers owe their job to tourism.

“Bringing the entire tourism community together for a conference highlights the significance of the industry in New Jersey,” Franz added.

Sponsors of the event include: The New Jersey Department of Travel, Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority; Casino Reinvestment Development Authority; Six Flags Great Adventure; Atlantic City Electric; Verizon/NJ Shares; The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Greater Wildwoods Tourism Authority; The Star – Ledger/; Discover Jersey Arts; AAA World; Comcast Spotlight; Count Basie Theatre; Fishermen’s Energy; CIEE; HMS Host; SJTA – AC International Airport; Brushfire Inc.; CTM; Meadowlands Liberty Convention and Visitors Bureau; Golden Nugget – Atlantic City; Trip Advisor; Entertainment on Location; Morey’s Piers; and Media Two/Today Media.
