Silver Palms Resort Holds Classic Auto Show
The inaugural Silver Palms classic car show at Silver Palms RV Resort in Okeechobee, Fla. on March 16 attracted more than 200 people from outside the property plus the resort guests and was a great start for this new event, according to a news release.
Featuring 28 vintage classic cars from 1900 to 1975, all the attendees were given a ballot where they voted for their favorite vintage car. Each of the age groups had a first- and second- place prize.
"A good time was had by all on a beautiful sunny afternoon.," reports Ed Pask, general manager. "Great friends, fantastic cars and good food combined to make this an excellent way to spend a Saturday afternoon."
All of the proceeds from the show went to the Wounded Warrior foundation. Donations amounted to $1,000. Silver Palms RV Resort Matched that amount bringing the total raised to $2,000.
The Backyard BBQ, a local restaurant, sold food and beverages and donated 20% of their sales to the Wounded Warriors. They also provided free food to everyone who brought a classic car.
"The event was a booming success," Pask said. "We are already planning the event for next year. We expect 75 to a 100 cars. Next year's event is scheduled to happen St Patrick's weekend."
