‘Sunset Magazine’ Praises Colo. Campground
Sportsman’s Campground & Mountain Cabins near Pagosa Springs, Colo., a member of Camp Colorado, the Colorado Campground & Lodging Owners Association (CCLOA) and the National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (ARVC), won national attention last camping season in the pages of Sunset Magazine.
The campground didn’t go out seeking the attention but was happy to get it, owner Jon Reed said in an article in the current issue of CCLOA’s e-newsletter. “The vast majority of our business, 80% of it, is repeat people,” he said. Besides being a Camp Colorado member and getting listed in the Camp Colorado printed guide, on the Camp Colorado website and on the Camp Colorado mobile site, Reed also advertises on his local city website, Pagosa.com.
Sunset described Sportsman’s Campground as being in “quiet aspen country. … When light sparkles on the Piedra River, you know you’re in the right place. Dirt-road-only access adds to the seclusion.”
“At the Sportsman’s Campground, tent it or go cabin,” the magazine wrote. “Thirty-three campsites from $19, 7 cabins from $45; open May 20–Nov 15.”
The Sunset article featured “The West’s Best Camping” in a section called “Perfect campgrounds for amenities junkies.”
