Estes Park KOA Makes Colorado Top 10 List
Just in time for summer camping in the Rockies, Tripleblaze.com has released a list of the top 10 campgrounds in Colorado. The best campgrounds list is compiled using visitors’ ratings and reviews that have been collected continuously since 2005.
The Estes Park KOA was the only privately owned campground to make the list.
Several of the campgrounds listed in the top 10 reflect the popularity of national parks like the Great Sand Dunes and Rocky Mountain national parks. Pinyon Flats Campground is located within the Great Sand Dunes Park and provides visitors with easy access for climbing dunes and relaxing in the cool waters of Medano Creek. Others, like Camp Dick, Moraine Park Campground and the Estes Park KOA give those traveling to Rocky Mountain National Park several camping options.
Right in the middle of the top 10 is a campground located near North America’s highest incorporated city, Leadville, Colo. Parry Peak campground is located just above Twin Lakes and includes activities like hiking, fishing and mountain biking nearby. Others making the top 10 provide campers with easy national forest access like Seedhouse campground near the Routt National Forest and Steamboat Springs, and Painted Rocks campground in the Pike National Forest near Manitou Lake.
“The campgrounds selected for the top 10 list reflect the variety of beautiful scenery to be found in Colorado. From sand dunes to snow-capped peaks and national forests, this list provides campers with great options across the entire state,” said Julie Norman, Tripleblaze blogger and a Coloradan.
Some campgrounds on the list do take reservations and all but one are government-owned and/or operated. Many campgrounds in the state still have availability for July 4th, though it’s best to book early to get a great campsite.
