Friendly Beaver Campground near New Boston, N.H., known for its array of children’s activities and theme weekends, has been named one of the top 11 family campgrounds in the northeast by the Good Sam Club.

The Good Sam Club award is based not only on what the campground offers for families, but also the condition of its facilities as well, according to a news release. Friendly Beaver Campground was the only New Hampshire campground to be named to the list. In 2011, they were a top rated campground by the Trailer Life Directory.

“We take great pride in this award,” said Barry Charest of Friendly Beaver Campground, who currently runs it with his parents and brother. “We really cater to families and put a lot of effort into our activities. Because we are family owned and have been for 33 years, we are all involved. Everyone is treated like family and our campers are really what make this place so great.”

Friendly Beaver Campground offers a variety of children’s activities and theme weekends throughout the summer, including Easter, Mardi Gras, Halloween and Princess Weekend, complete with a red carpet and ball. Many families return year after year and some even have plaques on the wall in one of the recreation halls signifying a decade of camping there.

Additional Friendly Beaver Campground facility features include four swimming pools, tent and trailer sites, cabins and two recreation halls. For more information, call (603) 487-5570 or visit
