Idaho’s Beaver Creek Fire Now 90% Contained
The Beaver Creek Fire continues to rage in Idaho with no end in sight, WHO-TV, Des Moines, Iowa, reported.
Flames raced up and down the mountains as more than 1,000 fire and emergency personnel battled the blaze into Sunday night (Aug. 18).
So far the fire is 90% contained.
The fire is threatening homes, ski areas, recreational trails and campgrounds.
Many local businesses closed their doors to evacuate.
“We don’t know when we’ll be able to reopen. We don’t know if we will be back here in three days or three weeks. You know it’s just so hard to say,” said Galena Lodge owner Don Shepler.
The fire has already burned through nearly 150 square miles of land.
