NPS Begins to Accept Bids from Concessioners
Two of Grand Canyon National Park’s most lucrative contracts are going out to bid.
The historic lodging and hospitality contracts are worth an estimated $1.5 billion over 15 years, The Associated Press reported.
The National Park Service today (Aug. 6) outlined the services that include food, transportation, mule rides, lodging and retail to prospective bidders. Valet parking at El Tovar, mobile food trucks and updates to lodging units will be added under the new contracts.
Site visits for prospective bidders are planned for Aug. 28-29. The deadline to submit proposals is Nov. 25.
The contracts currently are held by Xanterra Parks & Resorts and Delaware North Parks & Resorts.
The National Park Service says up to 45 concession contracts will be put up for bid by Sept. 30, covering some of its most popular parks.
