Larry and Sheryl Johnson, owners of Cedar Valley Resort in Whalan, were named the resort operators of the year by the Minnesota Resort & Campground Association .

The honor was announced during the MRCA’s Fall Conference Wednesday (Oct. 24) at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa, according to the Post-Bulletin in Rochester, Minn.

The announcement brings the honor to far southern Minnesota after the owner of Timber Bay Lodge and Houseboats in Babbitt in far northern Minnesota was last year’s winner.

Cedar Valley opened in 2001 and gradually added larger cabins for large groups and family reunions. It now offers nine cabins with three to eight bedrooms; the largest cabin sleeps 40 people.
