Alamosa RV Resort Plans Move Another Step
The Alamosa, Colo., city council unanimously determined the former Polston school property eligible to be annexed into the city Wednesday night.
It was the first step in the annexation process for the Alamosa RV Resort on the Rio Grande, the Valley Courier reported.
There were no public comments during the public hearing on the eligibility issue. To be eligible, at least one-sixth of the property has to be contiguous to existing city limits. In this case, the city determined nearly half of the property was contiguous.
City Manager Heather Brooks reviewed the timeline for completing the annexation, if the council moves forward with it, and for potential land exchange negotiations. She said the next step in the annexation would be the first reading of the annexation ordinance, which could occur during the Nov. 20 meeting. By that time the city council and staff should have a draft of the proposed annexation agreement with the developer, Brooks explained.
