Residents of Sundance I RV Resort on Thornton Road in Casa Grande, Ariz., may soon have more room for pickleball and other activities after the Casa Grande Planning and Zoning Commission on Thursday gave a favorable recommendation to a proposal to expand the park’s outdoor recreation area.

A request for a zone change from urban ranch to planned area development recreational vehicle park for 7.5 acres next to the park was approved by the commission, along with the major site and final development plans necessary for adding amenities to the park, the Casa Grande Dispatch reported..

While the resort is properly zoned as a recreational vehicle park, the 7 1/2 acres needed for the expansion are zoned urban ranch.

The additional acreage will be used to expand the park’s recreational offerings with four pickleball courts, three bocce ball courts and one volleyball court. An RV storage yard will also be added, according to plans.

Several Sundance residents attended the meeting to show their support for the plan.
