N.Y. Town OKs Campground Road Upgrade
A new road likely will be installed at the Lisbon (N.Y.) Beach and Campground after the town council reversed its earlier decision to oppose its construction.
At Thursday’s meeting Councilman Alan D. Dailey said that after hearing from constituents, he supports the idea of building a road to bypass the campground and provide direct access to the boat launch, the Watertown Daily Times reported.
Councilman Gary J. Jarvis said his understanding is that town residents want to see the money made at the campground reinvested in its growth.
The beach and campground made about $28,000 in profit this year.
Councilwoman Susan M. Duffy recommended using some of the $125,000 the town made from the sale of land at Sparrow Hawk Point for upgrades at the beach as well.
