The Fulton County, Ill., board voted unanimously Tuesday to transfer the Fulton County Camping and Recreation area from the property committee to the economic development and tourism committee.

Board chairman Bob Bucher said he had felt last year the transfer needed to be made but had decided to leave things as they were, the Canton Daily Ledger reported.

However, he noted, the property committee would be much busier now with the needed courthouse work and the tourism committee would have more time now that the website was close to completion.

Mitch Strode, who is in charge of the camping site, said he personally thought the transfer was a good idea. He noted a good deal of his education had dealt with tourism and that he could be an asset to the committee through his connection with other tourism venues in the area.
